Learn wine like you read manga

Burgundy, Piedmont and Champagne, one page at a time. Mud tasting monks, a furious duke, the Barolo Wars, the widow who changed Champagne and every cru that matters. The stories make the regions, the villages and the producers stick: for the exam, for the floor, and for the next bottle.

Wine books are dry. Wine is not.

ONE PAGE

One page, one idea

Every page stands alone: a village, a grape, a soil, a feud. Read one on the train and you have something you can use tonight, at the bottle shop or at table six.

ONE STORY

Stories make it stick

You will forget a list of 33 grands crus. You will not forget the duke who banned a grape, or the monks who tasted the soil. Every fact in Uncorked is attached to a story so it stays put.

FULL DEPTH

Study level, not dumbed down

Volume 01 gets a beginner fluent. Volumes 02 to 05 go deep: soils, viticulture, cellar choices, the producers to know and a final exam in every book. Pitched at WSET 2 and 3 and French Wine Scholar depth.

Tap a page. Read it full size.

Six real pages, one after another. Then read any volume, cover to cover, no sign up needed.

Three regions. Fifteen volumes. All open.

Every volume is open to everyone. No sign up, no catch. Tap a cover, then a page. Or read about each series first: Burgundy, Piedmont, Champagne.

Built for four kinds of wine people

I have an exam in eight weeks.

The student

WSET 2 and 3, French Wine Scholar, or your own syllabus. Villages, crus, soils and producers in a form you can revise a page at a time, with a final exam at the end of every deep dive so you know what stuck.

Table six wants to know what makes this Barolo special.

The floor

Sommeliers, bar and restaurant teams. Enough about each village and producer to talk about the bottle with confidence, and a story to tell while you pour it.

I just want to read the label.

The curious drinker

Start with any Volume 01. In 16 pages you will know what the label means, what to expect in the glass and what to order with dinner.

We fly to Reims in the spring.

The traveller

Read the region before you land. Know which hill you are standing on, whose cellar you are in and what to ask for.

Fair questions

Is it really free?

Yes. All fifteen volumes, open to anyone, no sign up. If you want to hear about new regions and vote on the next one, leave your email.

Why do you want my email?

To tell you when a new region or special release comes out, and to give you a vote on which region we do next. If your pick wins, the new edition lands in your inbox first. That is all. One click unsubscribes you.

How deep does it go?

Volume 01 of each region assumes you know nothing. Volumes 02 to 05 cover soils, vineyard work, cellar technique, classifications and key producers at the depth WSET 3 and French Wine Scholar students work at.

Is this an official study guide?

No. Uncorked is an independent 75cl publication and is not affiliated with or endorsed by any wine education or exam body. Use it alongside your course materials, not instead of them.

I work the floor. Is this for me?

Yes. Each deep dive covers the villages, the producers and the stories behind the bottles you pour. Read the Barolo volume and you can talk Serralunga and La Morra with a guest who knows the difference.

Which regions are next?

You pick. Leave your email, then reply to any of our emails with the region you want. The most asked for region gets made next, and the people who asked for it get it first.

What do you do with my email?

We use it to send you Uncorked news and new volumes, and for nothing else. We never sell or share it. There are no tracking cookies or advertising pixels on this site, only a cookieless page counter, and every email has a one click unsubscribe. The full detail is in the privacy notice.

Can my shop, school or tour company use the pages?

Yes, with a licence. Email [email protected] and tell us what you have in mind.
